Feature: The Indoor Cyclist
It's that time of year where some parts of the world hunker down and ride their bike indoors. If you use Zwift, TrainerRoad, Peloton, Echelon or whatever else, tracking your gear is important.
Bikes need washing: chains, chainrings, cassettes need maintenance or replacement; Heart Rate Montiors need batteries.
The following is a suggested starting point, with some advanced tips to get you through the trainer season:
Indoor Cycling Setup
Gear
Add the following gear:
- Trainer
- Bike
- Chain
- Heart Rate Monitor
- Bike Shoes
- Rear Tire (unless you have direct drive)
- ...any other gear you use indoors
Groups
Create this group and all that gear to it:
- Indoor Cycling (or call it Zwift. Or PainCave. Or anything you like!)
Rules
Create the following Rule:
That's it!
Now every ride you do indoors, will automatically start tracking the gear against it.
Advanced
Oh, you want to get fancy? Well... you can break your gear out further. Consider tracking:
- Shifter cables
- Pedals
- Bottom Bracket
- Bar Tape
- Power Meter
- Cadence Sensor
- Di2 Charges
- Distance / Hours (Gear can be a training plan too!)
Additionally - you can create Milestones on the gear
- Lubricate chain after 500 miles
- Charge Di2 batteries after 1000 miles
- Inspect trainer before warranty expires in 3 years (1095 days)
